Mark first got into the outdoors by taking an Outward Bound in 1974. He started kayaking then, but this was overshadowed for 20 years by his desire to climb. Mark spent 30 years climbing all over North America and the Alps. He also ski toured extensively during those years, highlighted by a 4-week ski traverse of the Alps on telemark skis. After retiring from climbing in 1994, Mark got back into kayaking. He retired from the corporate world in 2013, and took Paddle Canada classes to become a certified Advanced Flatwater SUP Instructor and Kayak Level 1 Instructor with Paddle Canada Level 3 Skills.
