Karen was born and raised landlocked in Edmonton, AB. She started kayaking back in 2003 doing annual trips out to the west coast on various expeditions. She took her Assistant Overnight Guide Course in 2009, and when she moved to Victoria in 2017 became a certified AOG with SKGABC. Karen’s love for ocean kayaking has brought her to Belize; Baja, Mexico and various locations all over Vancouver Island.

She is a professionally trained biologist and loves sharing her love of the natural world and her kayak experience with she meets through working at Ocean River.
