Gordon Brown Sea Kayak Centre of Excellence

Since moving from Scotland in August 2018, Gordon has been reflecting on the way forward for the development of sea kayaking in his new home. The result of these deliberations is the Sea Kayak Centre of Excellence. Bringing together one of the most recognized coaches in sea kayaking and the West Coast’s longest running sea kayak store has resulted in a unique, symbiotic relationship. Gordon has the freedom to support and develop the sport without the constraints of running his own business. Together with his wife, Morag, in 2000 they set up and ran for eighteen years the very successful Skyak Adventures on the Isle of Skye. Skyak became known as the place to go to in the UK for sea kayak instruction, with many professionals passing through their doors as leaders or coaches.
