Expedition Kayaking with Russell Henry

Expedition Kayaking with Russell Henry

Join us for an evening of expedition kayaking at Ocean River Sports with guest speaker Russell Henry. Enjoy tales of Russell’s past trips. As well, hear about his upcoming trip and the planning involved in these long distance kayaking trips.

Russell has been on many expedition kayaking trips that have taken him to exotic and far off places and tested his skills with every stroke. Russell paddled with his brother, Graham, from Belem, Brazil to Juno Beach, Florida in 2013. This adventure was close to 7000km of paddling and went through 23 different countries making it one of the longest paddling expeditions in history. In 2014 Russell set a record that remains unbroken to this day, paddling around Vancouver Island in just over 12 days. Once again 2015 had Russell paddling an outrigger canoe with a team of other young paddling enthusiasts participating in the Race to Alaska, a 750-mile route from Port Townsend, Washington, to Ketchikan, Alaska.

Now, in 2017 Russell will set out with two friends, David Moseley and Luke Spence, on a two-month sea kayaking accessed ski touring adventure from Prince Rupert, British Columbia to Skagway, Alaska.

Join us to hear tales of the past adventures as well as what goes into making expedition trips possible and how to plan for long distance paddling. Let us know you are interested on the FACEBOOK EVENTS PAGE
